Wild camping in Kosovo: is it legal? (2026)

allowed with conditions

The only thing we could verify in Kosovo is the national-park regime, and there the rule is clear — camping only at places arranged for it, and overnight stays limited to provided and marked places. The park Directorate may authorise exceptions in special cases, with mountaineering and rescue as examples. About the rest of the country we claim nothing.

Checked July 2026

This is not legal advice: it's what the official sources say, checked by hand, plus what I lived myself. Verify before you bet the fine on it.

National parks: an arranged place

The Albanian text is explicit: in Kosovo's national parks camping is allowed only at places arranged for it, and visitor stays and overnight accommodation are limited to provided and marked places.

  • It's confined to national parks: it doesn't classify other public or private land.
