Forest Law 6831 doesn't talk about tents: it talks about spending the night. Which is why this rule sweeps up all three ways of sleeping — tent, bivouac and vehicle — when they happen in State forest outside an overnight place designated by the forest administration. The official 2026 table puts a number on it: 4,293 TL. Daytime access and recreation are a different matter and don't belong here.

National Parks Law 2873 has an article that raises the stakes: penalties for forest offences committed inside its areas increase onefold. Result for 2026: 8,586 TL for the same night. The example with paperwork: Uludağ's park directorate keeps tent and caravan areas at Sarıalan and Çobankaya, with mandatory in-person registration for the 2026 season and its attached camp conditions. It's the clean route and one of the few verifiable in the country — but it's seasonal: check dates, places and fees for any later year.

First things first: the vehicle must be lawfully stopped or parked — and outside built-up areas, stopping or parking on the carriageway is prohibited save necessity and with safety measures. That settled, whether sleeping inside counts as camping, no official source says: unconfirmed.

On the yaylas — the high summer pastures — goat-hair tents have stood for centuries, and an official cultural page documents it as a living practice of nomadic and semi-nomadic communities. That's culture, not an access right: a shepherd pitching there every summer doesn't authorise you. First work out what that parcel is — State forest, protected area, communal pasture, municipal or private land — because each has its own rule and some are listed above.
