The only flat rule we could verify in Turkmenistan: in a national park's strict-protection zone and in a biosphere reserve's core, recreational use is prohibited. Holding a document that lets you be there doesn't turn recreational camping into authorised use.

A sunset-to-sunrise night is still recreational use, and recreational use is what's prohibited.

Sleeping in a vehicle for recreation falls within the ban; ordinary authorised movement doesn't.

A national park's intensive-use zone may contain formally established tent camps and overnight places. That's the route — the formally designated site, under the area's approved visiting rules and the administration's conditions.

A foreign tourist is registered electronically at border migration posts, biometrics included. On top of that, arriving at a destination after changing place of stay carries a three-working-day registration duty — and the law doesn't define whether one night outdoors is such a change.
