At the end of August I headed to Spain with Ilze, hitchhiking the whole way. We did a loose "tourist loop" around Europe that took a couple of weeks and covered nearly 4,000km (3,900-odd kilometres, give or take).
From Riga we headed to Gdansk (Poland), crossing Lithuania and the disastrous roads of northern Poland.
From there we followed the coast down to Berlin.
We carried on to Munich where we got our hands on a barrel of German beer.
From there we headed to Liechtenstein via Austria, crossing the country from one end to the other in a matter of hours.
Then on to Lucerne in the heart of Switzerland.
After four very long hours trying to catch a ride out of Lucerne we finally got moving towards Lyon. We spent the night camping in a French service station before finally reaching this beautiful city.
And from there we headed to Toulouse to meet up with an old friend.
And finally we set course for Zaragoza via San Sebastián.
